When you turn on the pc (after you plugin everything), did you heard the normal boot up sound? is there have any weird *beep* sound?

did you try plugin PS2 K&M?

and there have lots of other side questions...these are all for troubleshooting.

Yes to all those:

I don't think it's booting even though I'm getting no video through the gpu, I can tell this because it instantly shuts down when I hit the power switch whereas it doesn't when on desktop.

...you should have stated this in the very first place...

this is more likely to be power problem/ cpu cooler problem / MB problem.

Got it working!

Turns out I needed to do a BIOS update cos I was running on a shitty glitchy version that didn't enable PCI 3.0 properly.

Never done one before and I heard if it goes wrong then it bricks your mobo lol!! awesome.

Got mine to 1200mhz whilst tinkering around, I think once I upgrade to a water loop I'll stick a gpu block on and oc it more. Feels kind of useless getting the gigabyte 7970 considering I'm pretty sure I paid for the fans.

@bb,how did you get on with your rtn to scan,ive just booked a rma with them for my 2nd gpu,one of the fans is making a intermittent noise,sounds like its catching the plastic fan shroud,only reason i ask is i was just reading the terms,and they have a £10 +vat+ no fault found fee,im just wondering if they are gonna try screw me on this ?
and i know you just rtnd a card which came back as no fault found.

Well I returned my card which turned out to be working and not faulty as I identified it wasn't the card that was at fault.

So I just claimed the 7 day return period offered by the sales of goods act.

(Basically if you buy something online you have by law the right to return it within 7 working days in a fully working condition in its original packaging for a full refund, I'd reccomend googling the full information).

One good thing about Scan that they give fast refunds lol.
