How long exactly is a lifetime warranty? because as far as I am aware that can be from 1 second to a long time in manufacturing terms. I hope you don't think that they mean forever when offering these so called lifetime warranties on consumer products?

Huh? Lifetime warranties are for the duration of the life of the owner, not the life of the product.

I suggest you go find out about exactly what a lifetime warranty means when you get them from manufacturers, I can promise you it doesn't mean what you think it does. Seriously, think about it for a second, you buy one graphics card and you never need to buy one ever again because it is guaranteed for life?
Lifetime warranties are not for your life but the life of the product which company's set depending on how long they think the product would last before needing it to be replaced.

I think you will find that MSI's 3 year warranty is quite good compared to some of the other company's laughable lifetime warrantys.

I have a pair of carbon handle bars for my downhill bike and they have a lifetime warranty and that is five years. I also have a chris king steelset headset for the same bike and that has a lifetime warranty of ten years.

The luck is always with you bro.

The only thing you need to be aware of is take your time to install all the hardware. Make sure all cable is connect to the correct ports.

If you tend to OC the machine, better wait for a few days after installation.

    Welcome back to the club.

Don't rush the setup, take your time to make sure you get everything right and save yourself the headache of having to troubleshoot all sorts of issues...your computer won't be going anywhere.

I also noticed you got an H80. Make sure you run it outside the case for at least half to an hour, don't want all your hardware covered cooling liquid.

    No problem.

To be honest, I was dead afraid the H80 I had bought at the time would ruin my hardware, I ended up running it hooked up to an old power supply and in a kitchen bowl for 24 hours.

Sorry, but it is YOU who are wrong. The limited lifetime warranty for XFX is for the lifetime of the OWNER:

"If you register any of the specified products noted above online at http://www.xfxforce.com/ within 30 days of purchase, your limited warranty will be EXTENDED for the duration of your life."

However, there is obviously a limit to the number of cards you can get:

"The standard warranty period is not extended if we repair or replace a warranted product or any parts. However, if the original product is properly registered under the lifetime warranty program, a replacement card that is issued within the first two years of the warranty period will also receive the benefit of the limited lifetime warranty coverage. A third replacement within the first two years of the original warranty period will disqualify the lifetime warranty coverage for the original owner—and will default to the following coverage for the replacement item:
Within 2 years of warranty start date:
    2 years limited warranty
After 2 years from warranty start date:
    1 year limited warranty"

So unless you treat your GPUs horribly, it should last as long as you need it to.

Some companies do essentially give you products for life though; my father bought a Goretex North Face rain jacket decades ago, and every time the goretex wears off they give him credit for a new one (I think he is on his third jacket right now).

You are mistaken about what a "lifetime" warranty is. A 3 year warranty is NOT a lifetime warranty, it is a 3 year warranty.

Also, why do you have carbon bars for a DOWNHILL bike? Weight is not an issue (nor is stiffness), so why risk it? I don't even have carbon bars on my road bike because the likelihood of crashing in a race is so high.
And let's be honest here; you can't compare high end bike component manufacturers like Chris King to electronics companies; in my experience bike components are more prone to issues than GPUs, so good service is essential to keep customers. For example, SRAM sent me brand new shifters for free after one of mine broke, even though they were at least a year and a half out of warranty.

Some "lifetime" warranties do specify that they are for the lifetime of the product, but most of those that I have seen for GPUs (like XFX and EVGA) are actually warrantied for the lifetime of the owner. The catch here is that no one is going to own a GPU their whole life, and if they sell it the warranty will be void (and most people sell their cards when upgrading).

Learn something new everyday. Every lifetime warranty I have ever had has been limited in the small print and not actually forever.

I never actually said a 3 year was a lifetime warranty, don't know where you pulled that from?

I think you are not giving carbon credit enough, my easton bars(now using renthal fatbar risers) have taken some serious crashes and falls and are still in one piece. Most top downhill bikes these days are loaded with carbon and for very good reason, lightness and strength.
Weight is a major issue in Downhilling, a lighter bike is a more maneuverable bike and something you need when dodging through trees at ridiculous speeds. I also use my Downhill rig like a cross country bike so any benefits from losing weight is appreciated.

Really quick and refunded, why did you then decide to go elsewhere when such good service? surely your odds were better at getting a working card from them this time around, everything else worked, right?

I bought every single component from Amazon and all have worked flawlessly, I only buy one thing from SCAN and it turns up broke and you ask me why I don't want to buy from SCAN again?..

I have never had a faulty product from SCAN. On the occasions I had to RMA something it was all my fault (I didn't tell them that), they replaced them or gave me store credit if they didn't have any left in stock.

I even blew my previous mothered (MSI 990FXA-GD80) overclocking it, they replaced that but I ended up blowing that as well. I was on my third replacement when I bought a ASUS Crosshair V Formula.

I only paid £130 for the MSI 990FXA-GD80 and got 3 of them. I think it was just bad luck that you got a dud card, I wouldn't stop shopping with them if I was you.

I recommend trying these 2 sites as well Ebuyer.com and Aria PC. They are normally cheaper than SCAN, Overclockers and Amazon. I only use them if they don't have what I want at Ebuyer.com and Aria PC.

My mistake I thought it was all from scan, I can see your reluctance now, although I have had nothing but great service from them and only had one issue which was with my friends first 680 lightning. My only gripe with scan is that they stopped selling 680 lightnings so I am now trying to source one from the UK that isn't asking ridiculous prices like amazon sellers who want over £530 for it.

I think you are not giving road racing credit enough for how dangerous it is; I had some pretty nice aluminum bars on my road bike made out of 7 series aluminum alloy (they were about 90 bucks new), and in a crash during a race the left drop got snapped clean off; it literally snapped the metal apart. Since then, I have replaced them with less expensive bars that weigh negligibly more.

I didn't realise I was supposed to be? Did I somewhere say in my post it couldn't be then? It is not as dangerous as Downhill biking but Road Racing can have its moments.

Each to their own, I personally haven't felt the need to take that route. My carbon/alloy bars were and are still pretty much the standard for Downhill racing so I have no worries at all.

    Right,

Got the Gpu today, Still got no video

    Same symptoms as before.

I really have no idea guys, must be something wrong with my mobo.

Is there such thing as a PCI-E controller on a board?

Could it be that my GPU is just too high end for my Mobo/PSU to handle?

When you turn on the pc (after you plugin everything), did you actually heard the hard disk noise (it loading stuffs.)

    did you plugin usb K&M?

did you try plugin PS2 K&M?

and there have lots of other side questions...these are all for troubleshooting.
