    According to a new image leaked by Chinese website GamerSky, Battlefield 4 is due out in the fall of 2013, with the beta rumored to begin sometime in the late summer.

    As seen below, the image depicts marketing material for the GameStop owned retailer EB Games, with exclusive physical dogtags as a limited time pre-order bonus.

    We won't have to hold our breath for too long waiting to know if this is true, as EA DICE is scheduled to revealed the game March 27th at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

    A new video posted on the Battlefield 4 website as part of a number of teasers leading up to the official Battlefield 4 announcement depicts the propeller of water vehicle going off into the distance.

    Could this possibly mean water-based combat is back-on for the Battlefield franchise? I guess we'll have to wait in order to find out more.

    If it's any indication that ArmA III will be officially launching in the near future, it is that of the events that have preceded this weekend. Today, Bohemia Interactive has put the cherry on top by revealing the official box cover art for the game.

    On the ArmA III forums, development team member RoyaltyInExile (who's actual name we have no confirmation of) revealed the following images in a rouge announcement, 473 pages into a development blog thread. Sadly, only the first image in available in high resolution.

    Alongside the images, was this small note:

    Regarding the new cover art, I think it's worth mentioning that we didn't give ourselves a completely 'clean slate'. The previous artwork has obviously been out there for a while, and it had its own charm. We wanted to retain some of the distinctive elements, while taking it in a new direction and blending together the visual style across other media (e.g. in game, website, videos/ trailers). Consistency is king!

    So, gone is the super-special tier-one sniper-elite medal-of-lone-wolf behind-Sam-Fisher-lines and, in his place, is a figure that's more immediately recognizable as being 'military'. Broadly, that means being a bit more 'part of a bigger structure', less autonomous, etc. Infantry is our first priority - so he's still the primary focus - but, it's now a bit clearer that infantry is just one part of a bigger military framework, as that's the beauty of the Arma sandbox.

    It's also using in-game assets - adapted with some artistic license - rather than real-life assets from the previous art style. Overall, I much prefer this new direction. Even just the (sometimes difficult!) process of iterating on the artwork and discussing subjective preferences and ideas within the team has made the effort a worthwhile process. It's helped share the direction we're going in across the three studios (the third being our publishing hub in Prague), and refocus our goals by asking: 'what is it that Arma 3 should be about?'

    Best,
    RiE

    Don't forget, ArmA III will officially be available for pre-order via Bohemia Interactive this Tuesday (March the 5th) on their website, at the low price of €24 ($32 USD) and with alpha testing officially launching that same day.

    On note of this article, we'd also like to point out PCGamer has released quite a detailed interview with
    Project Lead Joris-Jan van ‘t Land and Co-Creative Director Jay Crowe.

    If you haven't played Planetside 2 in a while, now might be a good time to jump back in on the action.

    Producer Matt Higgy has announced that the previously mentioned server mergers are scheduled to take place March 1st at 12:01am, bringing down all servers involved for about three hours while data is transferred and verified.

    Not sure if your character is being merged? Here is the list of all servers involved.

    US West:
    Genudine and Helios -> Helios

    US East:
    Mattherson and SolTech -> Mattherson
    Waterson and Jaeger -> Waterson

    EU:
    Cobalt and Lithcorp -> Cobalt
    Ceres and Mallory -> Ceres

    Unfortunately...Connery, Woodman, Miller and Briggs will not be part of the mergers.
